The actress gained fame as Miranda Shaw on ABC's Quantico as well as on the epic BET series The Book of Negroes for which she received not just critical acclaim but also a number of nominations and awards including a Television Critics Choice Award nomination for the Best Actress in a Movie. She made her professional debut with the character Ariel on the stage in The Tempest in 1995. On Broadway, she has appeared on stage in Come and Gone A Winter's Tale Seeking the Genesis and Joe Turner's Come and Gone. In terms of her work in the film industry the most recognizable roles she has played include Men of Honor The Caveman's Valentine The Express The Help. On television her regular role in the ABC's crime drama series High Incident has earned her high praise.
